Astronomical calculations indicate that Monday, March 11, is likely to mark the beginning of the fasting month this year (1445 Hijri)

What are the fasting and iftar (breaking of fast) hours in different countries?

According to observations, the shortest fasting period will be in the city of “Porto Montt” in Chile, where Muslims will fast for 12 hours and 44 minutes.

Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, witnesses the longest fasting hours at 17 hours and 26 minutes.

The number of fasting hours depends on the latitude, with countries closer to the North Pole experiencing longer fasting hours, and vice versa.

In terms of Arab countries, the Moroccan capital, Rabat, records the longest daytime and fasting hours at approximately 14 hours and 23 minutes.

On the other hand, “Moroni” in the Comoros Islands will experience the shortest fasting hours among Arab countries, around 13 hours and 4 minutes.

The fasting hours in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, will be 14.14 hours, while in Muscat, Oman, it will be 13.53 hours. In Abu Dhabi, UAE, it will be 13.56 hours, and in Saudi Arabia, it will also be 13.56 hours.

In Amman, Jordan, fasting hours will be 14.11 hours, in Syria 14.18 hours, in Libya 14.21 hours, and in Sanaa, Yemen, it will be 13.39 hours.

The first day of Ramadan will have the shortest fasting hours in most Arab and Islamic countries, gradually lengthening until the end of the month.

According to astronomical calculations, the first day of Shawwal 1445, corresponding to April 10, is likely to mark the beginning of Eid al-Fitr.
